We have a massive weekend of college football ahead of us. To prepare, I am going to get a jumpstart on the weekend preview. National rankings going into this weekend or in parentheses next to each team if they are ranked.

Florida State (#3) at Clemson (Spread: FSU -2.5)
The Seminoles struggled mightily against the powerhouse of… Boston College? Last weekend. Just a temporary blip as FSU was looking ahead towards Clemson? Or is FSU severely overrated? My money is on overrated. OU beat FSU to win the National Title in the 2001 Orange Bowl and FSU has never been the same since.
Prediction: FSU wins 24-16 as Clemson is also overrated even though they are not ranked.
Oklahoma (#16) at Cincinnati (Spread: OU -14.5)
OU looks to welcome Big 12 newcomer Cincinnati into the Big 12 with a thorough beatdown. Hopefully this game will turn out to be the cool kid (OU) beating up on the new kid at school (Cincy) right before the new kid has to transfer out because his dad had to take a job elsewhere that pays him a gazillion more dollars. The cool kid isn’t happy but his dad promised to buy him new friends that are all five star recruits with all that new money.
Prediction: Cincinnati wins 28-14. Hopefully I am kidding. If I am kidding, then OU wins 35-17.
Auburn at Texas A&M (Spread: A&M -7.5)
Both teams lose.
Colorado (#19) at Oregon (#10) (Spread: Oregon -21.0)
Can Coach Prime and the Buffs keep their dream season going? Probably not, but this made for TV college football team is sure to earn massive ratings again as it may be the hottest team in all of sports. The hottest team in terms of national interest anyways. Decent chance the Buffs get humbled a bit at Oregon.
Prediction: Oregon wins 42-28 so at least CO covers the spread.
UCLA (#22) at Utah (#11) (Spread: Utah -4.5)
I don’t know anything about these two teams but it’s a top 25 matchup so it should be fun. Utah plays a very physical brand of football while UCLA is all finesse.
Prediction: Utah wins 28-24.
Ole Miss (#15) at Alabama (#13) (Spread: Alabama -6.5)
Alabama has been struggling so far this season. They are not ranked in the top 10 for the first time since 1956. Or something like that. This team looks like they have something that every other team always has: flaws. What a weird thing to say about a Nick Saban team. Maybe the juggernaut’s reign isn’t going to be so juggernaut-y anymore.
Prediction: Ole Miss wins 21-18.
Oklahoma State at Iowa State (Spread: ISU -3.5)
This game has a real chance of finishing 6-3. Both teams can’t score. Oklahoma State is convinced that it still needs to use three QBs per game. Coach Gundy should have at least started just one QB for an entire game (or games) at a time. At least that way the fans would have something to hope for as they could just say ‘ya well this guy is trash but his backup is supposed to be awesome.’ Then OSU could have strung out their fans on hope until at least week 6 or 7. At that point, all 3 QBs could have started full games and shown how terrible they were. I don’t know. Hope is the worst thing to have in sports so maybe Gundy is doing everyone a favor but making them all give up hope so early in the season.
Prediction: Iowa State wins 6-3.
Ohio State (#6) at Notre Dame (#9) (Spread: Ohio State -3.0)
Notre Dame is always overrated. I blame their exclusive contract with NBC. That probably has requirements in there that states Notre Dame has to start every season highly ranked so people will watch NBC. NBC has never been the same since The Office went off air.
Prediction: Ohio State wins 49-21
Iowa (#24) at Penn State (#7) (Spread: Penn State -15.0)
Iowa can’t score. What’s up with all of these teams who can’t score? What are we doing? How hard is it to throw 50 hailmarys per game, complete 5 of them, and score 35 points?
Prediction: Penn State wins 27-7.
